About Gerhard
I moved from a western suburb of Chicago to Las Vegas with a dream. A dream of playing music and bringing fun and love to all those who would be a part of it. The most important thing for me was to be able to give an experience so that people would forget about day to day troubles and just enjoy their time. Whether it was for a few songs or a whole evening of entertainment, I always felt it was up to the musicians on stage to provide that opportunity for everyone. A smile, a thank you, a handshake and a hug, sure do go a long way in letting you know, you are where you belong.

"Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you do it, they will want to come back and see you do it again, and they will want to bring others and show them how well you do what you do."-Walt Disney
"To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable."-Ludwig van Beethoven
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."-Ferris Bueller
To get to where I am today, it took a lot of faith, belief, and trust, not only in myself, but of those around me. I honestly wouldn't be where I am without their support. Looking back, growing up and getting to the point of moving to Las Vegas was a matter of making a plan and sticking to it. High School was great, the sports teams I played on were excellent, and the parties...oh the parties. Legendary. And unknowingly, the parties are what created the foundation for my love of music. The dancing, the blaring of the music, the singing at the top of your lungs, and, the ever evolving playlist of tunes that still, to this day, define who I am. Never once, in my wildest dreams, did I think about being in a band, but listening to those songs allowed me to differentiate between all the various parts. I wasn't just listening to the music, I was learning how the music was being put together and how imperative it was for the instruments to work together.
MTV Headbanger's Ball was the one show that got me to thinking about learning an instrument and performing in a band. "Eyes of a Stranger" by Queensryche put me in the mood, and "Up All Night" by Slaughter, drove the proverbial nail in the coffin. You see, by the time that Slaughter video was in rotation, the move to Las Vegas was already in the works and I was determined to meet those guys.
My first Christmas in Vegas, I was gifted with a bass. From there, it was lessons and auditions until I hooked up with my first group of guys. It was a pretty momentous time for me, I knew that good things were to come. The next decade I was headbanging to my favorite rock and metal covers. It was so much fun that at one point, I was in a band with a legendary rock vocalist for well over a year. That was when I decided I was going to make a go of this music thing.
Most of you know what happened to Metal when Nirvana arrived, the scene here in Vegas changed and I had to decide what to do next. And then, out of nowhere, I was going to be introduced to something new.
I answered an ad for a country artist and instantly fell in love with the music. Not only did I find another style that I ended up loving, but I found a genre that began to teach me how to play the bass. My skills, my interpretation, my delivery, and my groove, were all brought to another level. I found a home. A place where I loved being. A music style that would quickly take me to places that I had only dreamed of, give me experiences that will last a lifetime, and meet people that would become instant friends for life. It still has an old world value where you can look someone in the eyes, shake their hand, and know that you are good.
